I'm eating the biscuits and gravy (with fried chicken, sausage, and jalapenos) and I think I just saw God.

Good lord was this amazing food. We got the Nashville hot chicken and waffles, mac n cheese, and collard greens. The chicken was crunchy, juicy (breast included!), spicy, deeply flavorful, falling off the bone. Mac was creamy, cheesy, melty. Collards were succulent. While meal was fantastic. Service was great, pretty hands off, but helpful and nice. Ambiance was great, pretty quiet and relaxed, Motown jams playing, soft lighting, great smells.

I see why everyone talks about Luella's because it was delicious! During my very first visit to Luella's a few years ago I made the mistake of going at the every end of their night. They were out of all the good food options, I'm allergic to shellfish so I couldn't try the shrimp and grits. Going to Luella's and not being able to try their famous fried chicken is like going to the beach and not touching the sand. During this second visit I went within the first hour of them being open to ensure they had everything. First off, they do not take reservations so it is first come first serve for seats and food. The inside isn't massive but they have a good amount of four top tables, two single person tables, and one long table. I wouldn't recommend coming with a party larger than four. It was early enough that we didn't have to wait for a table. Before you grab a seat they direct you to order at the front to get your table number if you're dining in. I ordered the famous chicken its greens and of course the mac-n-cheese. All of it was delicious! I can see why Luella's will sometimes sell out of the top items before they close. The chicken was juicy and crispy. The greens and mac-n-cheese were made well. I would definitely come back to Luella's but I would stick with coming closer to when they open because everything from the seating to food is first come first serve.

Great food, friendly service. Love the nashville chicken! the nashville sauce is soo good! I have had luella's twice, first time i had buttermilk fried chicken, and while it was cooked to perfection, the flavor was a bit bland. But once I tried their nashville hot, I finally understand the flavor is all in the sauce. The chicken is lightly seasoned so it doesn't become too overwhelming when paired with the sauce.

Located in Lincoln Square, this intimate Southern style restaurant was packed with customers. Luckily I was able to have take out and ordered their beignets. I was satisfied with their freshly baked pastries. I would come back again and try their brunch menu.

I don't even know where to start! The flavorrrrssss, the presentation of the meal, the cozy feel of the restaurant, attentive staff. This is my #1 Soul food/ Southern Comfort food place I recommend in the Chicago area (and we have many to choose from) One tip, don't go when you're in a rush. They take their time (like at grandma's) each person's plate will be hot, so you have to be patient for the full experience. I got the buttermilk fried chicken with collard greens, corn bread & mac and cheese

Gonna have to come back and try more of the food. Plenty of fried options, but the salmon cakes were on point and cooked perfectly. The fried chicken looked incredible, but I didn't get a taste. The collard greens were good, and the beignets were better than some I've had in New Orleans. A lot of friend options, and I would say maybe add something baked or another meat option that's not fried. Overall it was delicious and on point.

This is a super cute hidden gem with a tasty selection of southern cooking. The ambiance was nice. It felt very cozy and I loved the artwork and set up of the restaurant overall. The staff was super friendly and attentive to customers The food was delicious and I only wished I'd ordered more. I went close to closing and as I got my food another table had cornbread come out and I was jealous. I'd definitely recommend the sweet potatoes and fried chicken. We all shared food and will probably do the same when coming back.

Wow. A time was had. This was so so so soooooo good!! We arrived around 5/6 pm on a Friday and tables were almost all full. We both ordered the fried chicken, one with yams and the other with collard greens and a side of mac and cheese. We also got a cornbread to share. It does take a while for the food to come but it was so worth it. The fried church was perfectly crispy and the portions were huge. I tried the yams which were yummy! Mac and cheese was okay the cornbread was just chefs kiss!!! Will definitely return.
